Capture an exciting and RARE physician leadership opportunity when you guide the growth and expansion of three community-based, adult-only, primary care clinics.

Holy Cross Hospital, located in Silver Spring, Maryland, is seeking an experienced, board-certified, internal medicine, physician leader for its Program Director position. As a salaried position, you will enjoy a clinical internal medicine practice (~70%) and manage the upstart of two additional clinics in the local area (~30%). You will also interface with other members of senior management and medical / hospital staff to build and execute clinic growth strategies, establish and staff outpatient delivery systems, develop comprehensive community health programs, and create solutions which enhance accessibility of healthcare for underserved, at-risk residents living in the community.

Academic appointments are available, and an interest in teaching interns, residents and nursing students is desired. Work experience in an academic or community / public health setting would be an asset in this job. Comfort and patience in caring for a culturally diverse population is essential as this community has many transitional immigrant households. Bilingual skills, graduate-level education, and/or an interest in research are all strongly preferred, but not required. Technical background and/or an interest in leveraging hospital technology to improve healthcare is also highly desired.

Holy Cross Hospital is a 450-bed, not-for-profit, Catholic faith-based, tertiary care hospital offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient, primary and specialty healthcare services. Operating for nearly four years, the initial Silver Spring clinic currently manages over 8,000 visits annually and has seen steady growth since opening its doors. Besides healthcare, the clinic also assists patients in finding health insurance through state and federal programs, provides health education, social work services and more. All of these community services help decrease non-emergent visits to the Holy Cross Hospital Emergency Room while providing an invaluable service to the Silver Spring community and the greater Montgomery and Prince George´s Counties.

There are two additional clinics scheduled to open by the end of 2009, and Holy Cross Hospital´s goal is to eventually manage a total combined volume of 30,000 outpatient visits annually.
